Reflecting on a productive year at Hillington Park

As 2024 draws to a close, we’ve taken a look back at the hard work the estate management team at MAPP have undertaken, including the collective effort invested in improving the estate for the many hundreds of businesses based here. Here’s a snapshot of what’s been achieved and how it benefits everyone who works on Hillington Park.

Infrastructure improvements

  • Major surface repairs have been completed across key roads with extensive work led by both the estate team and Renfrewshire Council
  • Road sweeping and gully cleaning programmes have been improved, and scheduled, to ensure a clean and well-maintained environment
  • Over 300 street lamps have been repaired or upgraded by Renfrewshire Council, Glasgow City Council and the estate management team

These improvements enhance the appeal for businesses and their customers, and they all contribute to a safer, more vibrant, and connected community.

Drainage works

  • Completed an annual weir cleaning project to maintain efficient surface water management directly linked to the estate’s drainage system
  • Drainage system cleaning and jetting undertaken to improve flood resilience for extreme rainfall events
  • 50% of Category 4 sewer and surface water collapses and major repairs in private roads have been undertaken, with further work planned

This means that we’re now better prepared for any heavy rainfalls and flooding risks that occur as a result so there is less impact on business continuity

Sustainability and biodiversity

  • Two new biodiversity areas – at Jubilee Court and on Napier Road – brings the number on the estate to eight. New signage has also been installed to increase awareness of the benefits of supporting nature and reducing maintenance costs
  • We’ve installed 75 utility check meters on larger properties  which will help us identify and work with occupiers to reduce energy consumption over the long term.
  • Only 3% of waste in landlord owned public areas, for example the Retail Centre, all external public bins, and Cameron Court, is now sent to landfill

Our commitment to achieving net zero reflects our dedication to reducing energy use and waste across the estate. We’re also keen to support businesses at Hillington Park, with their efforts to build a greener, more sustainable community.

Partnerships and community

  • Installed a new CCTV system – managed by experienced security company, Securigroup – with coverage now increased to 165 cameras across the estate
  • Partnered with Renfrewshire Community Safety Partnership and DVLA to tackle fly-tipping and to remove untaxed/defective vehicles making significant strides in estate cleanliness
  • Our ‘Meet Your Neighbour’ events have grown in popularity and over the first five events an average of 40 companies have attended each

These improvements mean the estate is more secure, is tidier and more welcoming, and those who work here have many new and positive business connections to each other than ever before.

Thanks to all of our partners and our contractors for all the hard work they’ve undertaken this year and as we gear up for a busy 2025, we’re excited to build on this momentum and continue making Hillington Park a better place to live, work, and thrive.

As always, if you see anything that you think needs attention please report it to the estate management team to help them help you.
